The newly formed Hnahthial District held a grand function yesterday at the District Headquarter's HBSC  Ground No 1 to celebrate creation of the District. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr R. Lalthangliana, MLA of the concerned Assembly Constituency (29 - South Tuipui) graced the occasion as Chief Guest.

Also in attendance were many dignitaries and officials including  I&PR Minister Pu Lalruatkima, Lunglei HPC Vice Chairman Pu Lawmawma Tochhawng, Dr ZR Thiamsanga, MLA, Prof F. Lalnunmawia, MLA, Pu Ramthanmawia, MLA, Pu Lalrinsanga Ralte, MLA, Pu Zothantluanga, MLA, Pu C. Ramhluna, Ex-MLA & Vice Chairman, Industrial Development Board, Pu C. Lalrammawia, Chairman ZOHANDCO, Pu Lalthanliana, Ex MLA & Chairman, KVIB, Pu TC Pachhunga, Ex-MLA & Vice Chairman, SYS and Tourism Board, DC and SP of Hnahthial District, media persons, members of the general public from different parts of Mizoram.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister congratulated the people of Hnahthial District on finally realizing their long awaited dream, and thanked the esteemed guests and the hundreds who had gathered to join in the celebration. He also stressed on the historic significance of the occasion, informing the gathering that he considered himself truly blessed to have been one of the architects of the newly formed District.

The Minister also touched upon various development initiatives to be started in Hnahthial District in the near future including infrastructure development of Hnahthial Hospital and nearby Health sub centers, construction of a state of the art Convention Centre, Rest houses, schools and Department buildings. He also announced 1st phase sanction of PMAY-HFA to 593 beneficiaries within Hnahthial town amounting to Rs. 355.80 lakhs. Reminding the people that public participation is key to success of developmental initiatives, he invited them to be proactive, and to voice their concerns and suggestions directly to him without hesitation.

The day's festivities included unveiling of foundation stone, release of souvenir and memento of Hnahthial District by the Minister and performance of traditional dances and folk songs. After the ground celebration, a community feast was prepared for the entire district, with thousands in attendance.

The Government of Mizoram had ordered creation of offices of the Deputy Commissioners of Hnahthial, Saitual and Khawzawl Districts vide a notification dated 3rd June, 2019, after which the three Districts started becoming operational.
