On 3rd Feb 2017, a swift operations was carried out by Special Team of Aizawl based 39 Assam Rifles that resulted in the capture of leaders of active underground group known as United Democratic Liberation Army.

The daring act was carried out at interstate boundary of Mizoram –Assam by 39 Assam Rifles outside their area of operations. The operations resulted in capture of Raj Kumar Riang (SS Army Chief, UDLA), Mela Rai Riang (SS constable, UDLA) and Neta Rai Riang (SS financial Secy, UDLA) in hand to hand combat with troops. Apprehended rebel leaders after preliminary interrogation were handed over to Assam Police for further actions.
