Joint border conference between District Magistrates and deputy Commisioners of India - Lunglei, Mamit and Lawngtlai Districts of Mizoram and that of Rangamati and bandarban Hill District of Bangladesh was held at the State Guest House, Aizawl, Mizoram, today. This is the third time this meeting is being held to address the common issues on border area shared by the two neighbouring countries.  Shri Lalbiakzama, Secretary, Home Department  convened the meeting in which 18 subjects along with other important subjects were discussed at length.

The discussion commenced after the delegates  were quickly briefed with the outcome of the last joint meeting at Chittagong which was held on November 25, 2015. 1.  Cross border illegal infiltration. 2.  Prevention of illegal trespassing along the border and combating cross border crimes 3. Prevention of smuggling of narcotic substances/drugs.4. Establishment of Deportation Center for illegal migrants/criminals.5.Prevention of Trafficking of women and children

6.  Smuggling of forest products to Bangladesh via Karnafuli.7. Flash flood / Maintaining the water level of Kaptai Dam especially during monsoon season in order to avoid floods in the low laying areas within Mizoram.8.Improvement in sharing of information and cooperation between District administration and Police.9.  Border trade at Silsury, Marpara and Kawrpuichhuah 10. Illegal Cross Border Trade.11. Joint border survey of land along the border area.

12  Construction and repair of Indo-Bangladesh Boundary Pillars. 13. Border fencing issue.

14.  Joint Patrolling by BSF and BGB in the area where there is no presence of BGB and IBB.

15.  Ensuring mobile network of BOP'and CIO camps.16.  Identification of boats by flagging.

17.  Establishment of BOPs along the border areas of Bandarban Hill District., and 18.   Review on implementation of decision taken in previous Joint Conference were the contents of the Agenda that was put on the table.

Smt K. Lalrinzuali, DC and Shri C. Lalthanmawia, SP from Lunglei District,  Smt  Shashanka Ala, DC and  SP Shri. C. Lalruatkima from Lawngtlai District, and  Dr Lalrozama, DC  and  SP Shri Shashan K. Jaiswal from Mamit District represent the Indian side. Dr Ch. M. Rao, PCCF,  Shri John Laldina, DIG(Hqrs), Shri  CD Agarwal, DIG, BSF, SHQ , Shri  B. Harris Chandra, Under secretary, MHA ,   Smt  Ramdinliani, Joint Secretary along with senior officials representing  EF&CC, Commerce & Industries, LR&S and  Excise & Narcotics were also attending this joint discussion.
