The Lunglei District Bru Repatriation team, tasked with undertaking the 1st phase repatriation under 8th Batch of Bru Repatriation and Rehabilitation, reached Lunglei District on 5th October, 2019 (Saturday) at around 7pm. 165 Brus (Adult ā€“ 105, Minor - 60) belonging to 42 families were successfully repatriated in this initial phase.

The repatriated Brus, along with officials and personnel were received at 2nd Battalion MAP Hqrs, Luangmual, located on the outskirts of the town. Lunglei DC Pi K. Lalrinzuali, SP Pu C. Lalthanmawia, 2nd Bn CO Pu Saidingliana, CMO Dr Thani Pachuau along with her medical team and other officials were present to receive the repatriated families. The DC apprised them of arrangements made at their respective temporary shelters and ensured them of continued support regarding any issues that might arise during their readjustment phase.

After spending the night at 2nd Battalion MAP Hqrs, Luangmual, the Bru families departed for their respective villages yesterday. All have reached safely and are currently lodged in their respective temporary shelters at Putlungasih, Buknuam, Dinthar and Chawilung ā€˜Sā€™. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Lunglei and team have set up a Mobile Medical Unit in all the four locations
