The 71st Republic Day was celebrated at Kolasib Sports Stadium, Project Veng Kolasib this morning where the national flag was unfurled by Deputy Commissioner Sangchhin Chinzah, infront of the 16 marching contingent and the gathering crowd.

Sangchhin Chinzah highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government in developing the district, mentioning that about 116 Metric tonnes of Oil palm has been sold through Godrej Pvt Ltd Bukvannei Oil Palm Mill over the past 7 years and that 70,000 oil palm seedlings were distributed to farmers the previous year. She also pointed out the works undertaken by the District Agriculture Office through FOCUS project, pointing out that over Rs 190 lakhs was received in developing the farmers in the district, in which the work has already been initiated.

Besides her speech on various development of the district, Sangchhin Chinzah also mention that liquor worth over Rs 60 lakhs was seized by the Kolasib District Office of the Assistant Excise & Narcotics during 2019. She also emphasized on the importance of learning Hindi language as the district is sharing a long boundary with her neighbouring state.
