Dated: Aizawl the 16th of May: The State Level Sub-Committee on Green Mizoram, 2024 held a meeting today at Conference Hall of Forensic Science Laboratory, MINECO. The meeting was chaired by Pu H.Lalengmawia, Co- Chairman, SLSC ON Green Mizoram, Commisioner& Secretary, EF& CC and a report regarding 2023 performance and agendas for Green Mizoram 2024 were discussed.

Members of the committee came up with the following decisions: 

1.    The theme for Green Mizoram Day 2024 will be “I nunna atan thing phun rawh” or “Plant trees for your life” 

2.    Prizes for best performing districts and villages for control/prevention of fire during the season will be distributed again at the same rate as 2023. 

3.    Zokhawthar area, Assam Rifle’s Complex has been chosen as the venue for State Level Program with Hon’ble Chief Minister as the Chief Guest

4.    Three individuals who have contributed to conservation efforts will be awarded with citation and Rs 10,000 each. 

5.    Every government department who has area/space for planting tress must do so. 

6.    As it has been done by EF&CC Department, seedlings will be given to those who need them.

7.    All the participants who have taken seedlings are expected to take care of the same.

At the meeting, a review regarding 2023 performance was given. According to the report, 29,839 seedlings were planted on Green Mizoram Day,2023 and 1,26,733 seedlings were distributed to the public and various departments, institutions, NGOs etc.
