Aizawl, 22.07.2022: Mizoram police issued the following public appeal (dated 21.07.2022) for persons intending to work in foreign countries:

It has been observed that at times, some persons are enticed/lured to travel/work in foreign countries by unscrupulous Agencies/Operators on the promise of providing them with well-paid jobs. But upon reaching foreign country, they withhold their passports/travel documents and forcefully make them work as per their dictates by any means, and threaten that they would have to pay heavy fines, otherwise they also do not allow them to return to their home land. Travelling/working in foreign countries without proper documentation and paperwork is illegal. Considered as a serious violation of law, it creates serious complications in the process of their deportation back to their home land. The Law Enforcement Agencies are often compelled to register cases against them, even after their arrival to home land as per extant laws/rules.

Hence, Mizoram Police once again request and appeal to the public to kindly refrain from falling in this trap etc., and also be mindful of those agencies who offer fraudulent placement/employment, as such offers could even lead to human trafficking. Mizoram Police fervently advise persons seeking job/employment in foreign countries to scrupulously follow legal procedures and obtain legal documentations besides checking the credentials of sponsoring individuals/agencies. In case of any help/assistance, local police can always be contacted.
