Aizawl 27.07.2023: Art & Culture Minister Pu R. Lalzirliana inaugurated the NEC sponsored two-day Zoawi Festival at Dawrpui Multipurpose Hall, Aizawl today. This festival is jointly organized by the state Art & Culture Department and MZI (Mizo Zaimi Inzawmkhawm) with the theme of “Unity through Music”. The festival will feature cultural dances, folk and modern songs from dance troupes and singers from Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.

The Art & Culture Minister welcomed participants of the festival and expressed his hope that as the theme “Unity through Music” suggested, the festival will foster the spirit of understanding amongst the diverse ethnic communities with their different cultures in north east India. "May this festival showcase the rich cultural tapestry of Mizoram to the world" he said. He also urged the festival goers to celebrate ZOAWI Kut as a testament to their indomitable spirit as citizens of a great country.

Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma also spoke on the occasion. Unity is the need of the hour, and music is a tool which can transcend linguistic barriers and unite diverse communities, she said.

The festival shall continue tomorrow where Dr. Z.R. Thiamsanga, MLA, Vice Chairman H&FW Board will grace the occasion.
