In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles/Inspector General of Assam Rifles organised COVID-19 Awareness Drive at Melbuk village on 28 October 2020.

The aim of the drive was to create awareness in the local population about the prevailing COVID-19 situation. The awareness drive was conducted by Zokhawthar Company in which they educated the villagers about COVID-19 protocols such as maintaining social distance, washing of hands, wearing mask properly and  avoiding social gatherings and need to stay at home was stressed upon. The drive was mainly focused upon precautionary measures and DO’s and DONT’s during COVID-19 pandemic to avoid any loss of life. The event was attended by 99 villagers of Melbuk including Village Chief and Village Council Members. The efforts of Assam Rifles were well appreciated by village authorities and people for creating awareness and they assured their support in the fight against COVID-19.
