Pi F. Lalengvari, District Mission Coordinator, informed the meeting that Project Genesis is a new initiative under BBBP and is being implemented in Mamit, Lunglei, Lawngtlai and Siaha districts. Explaining the broad objectives of the project, she stated that it aims to reduce the low rate of institutional deliveries and ensure that pregnant women receive proper ANC and deliver their babies at health facilities.

Dr. Lalmuanawma Jongte, Sr. Chief Medical Officer (CMO), presented the District Action Plan for the implementation of Project Genesis and elaborated on the proposed activities and their importance. The meeting also discussed that the selection of villages for implementation of Project Genesis would be taken up by the WCD and Health Departments.
