Director General BSF Shri Subhash Joshi, IPS alongwith Addl. DG (East) BSF Shri R.K. Punoth, IG BSF M&C Frontier Shri A.C.Thapliyal and other senior officers from Delhi today visited Mizoram.

During his one day visit to Mizoram, the Director General visited Border Outposts at Jaralchuri and South Phuldungsei to review the security scenario on the border and to address the jawans deployed at these two inhospitable and Malaria PF prone border areas. Later during the day, the DG addressed a Sainik Sammelan at Tuirial and exhorted the jawans to put in their best in maintaining vigil in this difficult terrain. This is the maiden visit of the DG to Mizoram, after having assumed charge of DG BSF in December, 2012.

The DG was also accompanied by his wife Mrs. Sudha Joshi, who is also the President of BSF Wives Welfare Association (BWWA). She visited the BSF Hqrs at Durtlang, where a cultural show of traditional Mizo dances and music was organised for her. She also met the representatives of BWWA, Mizoram and discussed ways in improving their welfare.

Several welfare schemes have been announced for the jawans and their families as the year 2013 has been declared the ‘Year of the Jawan’ by DG BSF. The successful visit of the DG and his team was conducted by DIG BSF Mizoram Shri U.M. Subramani and coordinated by Shri V.S. Shekhawat, Commandant.
