As part of the ongoing celebration of 75 years of India's independence 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ATMA and DC Office, Kolasib jointly organized a one-day Kisan Mela cum Exhibition and ‘Campaign On Kisan Baghidari Prathmika Hamari’ at KVK Complex, Vengthar, Kolasib.

Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner, Kolasib District Mr. John LT Sanga in his inaugural speech emphasized the importance of sustainable development to address the crisis caused by climate change. Dr. Michelle C.Lallawmkimi, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Kolasib presided over the function, which was well attended by members of Thingdawl Farmers’ Society, Vau SHG, Bilkhawthlir, Kolasib Nursery, KVK & ATMA, Kolasib, and Kawnpui Women’s Farmer Club.

The inaugural function was followed by technical session, where farmers and KVK scientists discussed how to solve various agricultural challenges and problems faced by the local farming community. Dr. Carolyn Zothansiami, Subject Matter Specialist (Soil Science) and Mr. Rambuatsaiha, Project Director, also gave lectures on the productivity and well-utilization of farm products
