19.10.2020: The Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah today spoke toMizoram Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga on the recent turn of events and escalations on the Assam-Mizoram border. The Union Home Minister expressed his concern on the border row between the two neighbouring states and offered all possible help towards easing of tensions and return to normalcy.

The Chief Minister expressed his wish for peaceful resolve of the situation at hand. In view of blockade of the national highway, which is the lifeline of essential goods for the people of Mizoram, the Chief Minister mentioned that this would necessitate the government to explore possibilities of transporting essential goods through the neighbouring states of Manipur and Tripura, and even from the neighbouring countries of Myanmar and Bangladesh.

The Union Home Minister assured the Chief Minister that such drastic steps would not be necessary and hoped that the impasse would be resolved as early as possible.

DoNER Minister Shri Jitendra Singh and Union Home Secretary Shri Ajay Bhalla also spoke to the Chief Minister. Assam Chief Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal also spoke to  Pu Zoramthanga and expressed his regrets over the incidents which happened at the border areas and assured him that the movement of goods through Assam would be ensured. Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga also spoke to Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Home Minister Assam, both leaders expressed their desire that peace was paramount and that it must be ensured.

Meanwhile, various MLAs both from the ruling and opposition parties have gone to Kolasib district where the incident took place. This include four ministers - Pu K. Lalrinliana, Pu Lalchhandama Ralte, Dr. K. Beichhua and Pu Robert Romawia Royte.

Minister of Information & Public Relations Minister Pu Lalruatkima assured the public that the government will do it's utmost to ensure supply of essential commodities, while urging the public to consume resources judiciously at the same time.
