S.B Shashank inaugurated Orientation of Assistant Expenditure Observers on Election Expenditure Monitoring for General Election to Mizoram State, 2018 today at NLUP Conference Hall, Aizawl.

CEO addressed the Orientation and said that preparation for MLA General Election, 2018 has been going on in the state and when the Model Code of Conduct is announced, there will be lots of rules to abide. He also said that the AEOs in every district will play a vital role in monitoring a candidate’s expenditure, he emphasized that one candidate cannot exceed an expenditure of Rs. 20 lakh as per the Representation of People’s Act, 1951, Section 77 (3). He requested all the AEOs to work and coordinate with MCMC at the district level for free and fair election in the state. He also expressed that the AEOs are considered as superintendent of the ECI and all their disciplinary gets vested with the ECI.

Lalzarmawii, Addl. CEO chaired the Orientation Program and Vanlalrova, State Level Master Trainer presented a Powerpoint and this was followed by group discussion.

John Neihlaia, IPS, Nodal Officer, Police Department; Rocktim Saikia, Dy. Director, Income Tax Department, Gwahauti and Representative from Excise Department and AEOs from each district were present at the Orientation.
