Kolasib dated 7th June 2023: Chief Electoral Officer Mr. Madhap Vyas visited Kolasib, inspecting the on-going preparations for the upcoming MLA Election in the state. The CEO, who was accompanied by Mr. Anmol Srivastava, OSD to CEO, had a meeting with Mr. John LT Sanga, District Election Officer and his team comprising of Superintendent of Police, Election Officer, Electoral Registration Officer, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and Booth Level Officers.
In the meeting held at DRDO Conference Hall, Mr. Madhap Vyas, CEO mentioned the importance of following the instructions of ECI in the conduct of elections, the collective efforts of ERO, AERO and BLO in the creation of updated and reliable Electoral Roll for each Assembly Constituency. He also urged the officials to study the polling stations where voter turn-out was the least in the last elections, so that this year, a turn-out of more than 85% could be achieved. As Kolasib district shared its borders with Assam, the CEO urged the DEO and team to continue building a good relationship with its bordering districts. Mr. Madhap Vyas also highlighted on the importance of ensuring Assured Minimum Facilities in each Polling Station and to establish Pink Polling Station, exclusively for women voters, as well as Model Polling Station.
Reports on the initiatives taken so far, such as identification and preparation of Polling Stations, First Level Checking of EVMs, Strong Room and inspection of Counting Rooms as well as progress in the deletion of Bru voters was also discussed today. As per the Final Publication prepared dated January 13, 2023, there are 63,356 voters in Kolasib district with 89 Polling Stations.
