Along with other parts of the country, the 72nd Indian Republic Day was celebrated in Champhai at Jericho Garden Keifangtlang near DC's Bungalow with huge zeal and grandeur this morning. Unlike previous years, this year, due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation, fewer number of invitees attended the Republic Day celebration.

Pi Maria C.T. Zuali, Deputy Commissioner, Champhai District, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, unfurled the national flag and acknowledged the guard of honour presented by the Mizoram Police Armed Contingent.

Speaking on the occasion, Pi Maria C.T. Zuali highly lauded the sincere efforts put in by all stakeholders in fighting against the menace of and challenges posed by the pandemic Covid-19. The Chief Guest mentioned her appreciation of the Sena Medal recipient from the district, Subedar K.Laldingliana of Kahrawt Veng Champhai. She also reminded all government officials and employees to recall the aims and objectives of the Directive Principles of the State Policy written in the Constitution of India and to abide by and fulfill the demands and responsibilities entrusted to them. Highlighting the enormous potential of the district to attain self-sufficiency through advanced agriculture, she urged the people to adopt safe government-approved occupations, as well as cherish the rich cultural heritage and natural beauty of the land.

On this special occasion, the  Chief Guest gave away  prizes for Swachh Survekshan 2020, organised by UD&PA Champhai District. The detail results under different categories are given below:
