Champhai, the 15th August, 2021: Along with other parts of the country, the 75th edition of Indian Independence Day, 2021 was celebrated in Champhai at DC's Bungalow with huge zeal and grandeur, this morning. Unlike the previous years, this year, due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation, fewer number of invitees attended the Independence Day's celebration. Pu T.J. Lalnuntluanga, Minister of State for Law & Judicial, EF&CC, Transport and Parliamentary Affairs graced the auspicious occasion as the Chief Guest attended by DC Champhai Pi Maria C.T Zuali, SP Pu Lalrinpuia Varte, Heads of offices and special invitees, among others.
The Chief Guest hoisted the national flag and acknowledged the guard of honour presented by the Mizoram Police Contingent and gave away appreciation certificates to District Hospital Champhai (Public) and Med-Aim Adventist Hospital (Private) for their outstanding contribution tothe implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY).
Speaking on the occasion, Pu T.J. Lalnuntluanga urged the gathering and the people of Champhai District to once again remember the supreme sacrifices made by freedom fighters and their struggle, lauded the achievement of Union Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Investigation-2021' recipient Sub-inspector Pu V.L. Chama Ralte, Officer in Charge, Dungtlang Police Station under Champhai District Executive Force. He also highlighted different achievements of various departments in the District. Of those upgradation of Land Custom Station Zokhawthar under Special Central Assistance to States, Afforestation of Denuded Hills in Champhai District under NEC, Botanical Garden at Zotlang, installation of 500 litres/minute Oxygen Generating Plan and additional TrueNat at District Hospital Champhai, upliftment of Sub Centres to Wellness Centres and proposal to construct new 132 kV line between Khawzawl-Champhai were the key points pertaining to the District.
Also commenting on the Covid pandemic, the Law & Judicial Minister praised the close cooperation between District Level Task Force, Village Level Task Forces and NGOs. He also urged the people to abide by Covid protocols and follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour in their routine life.
