Aizawl, the 3rd March 2022 : Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga presided over a function today at Dawrpui Multipurpose Auditorium to mark the foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of 6 AYUSH Hospitals and inauguration of 24 AYUSH Health & Wellness Centres in various towns and villages of the state in the presence of Union Minister for AYUSH, Shipping, Ports and Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, who reached the state yesterday on a one day visit to the state.

Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of AYUSH for the upcoming new AYUSH hospitals and operational AYUSH facilities across the state and added that it was a special occasion for the state. He remarked that it was very fortunate for the North East to have him as a Minister in the Union government since he was well versed with the needs of the region and of Mizoram and under him; the entire region has very high hopes for the development of the entire region, he added. Speaking on the need to harness the unexplored potential of the North East, he said we must try revolutionizing the region with our God gifted resources. He also remarked that the avenues for capitalizing the region’s rich medicinal plants must be leveraged as activities related to it can economically empower a lot of families in the region.

Shri Sarbananda Sonowal who also spoke on the occasion said the new AYUSH infrastructures would help create a lot of facilities for the people in meeting their healthcare needs. Remarking that Mizoram was a beautiful state he said that the beauty, culture and heritage of Mizoram was an addition to the strength of the nation. He pointed that with the Railways project in the state nearing completion and with the Kaladan waterway project, Mizoram would be empowered and these projects will help Mizoram realise its tremendous potential.

Health Minister Dr. R Lalthangliana stated that the people of the state have become aware of the benefits of various AYUSH systems and in the last few years acceptance of these systems in aiding and improving healthcare has increased among the people in the state, he added. He also made a note of various initiatives being taken under AYUSH in the state and mentioned that AYUSH had contributed in many ways in the fight against the pandemic.

Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, Vice Chairman, Health & Family Welfare Board concluded the function by delivering the vote of thanks. Lok Sabha MP Pu C. Lalrosanga also graced the function.

The foundation stone laying of construction of three 50 bedded AYUSH Hospitals at Aizawl, Champhai and Hnahthial; three 10 bedded AYUSH Hospitals at Keifang, Kolasib and Khawzawl and inauguration of 24 AYUSH Health & Wellness Centres in various parts of the state was marked symbolically by cutting a ribbon with the plaques displayed alongside.
