267/2026-2027

Aizawl, 31 July 2026: A felicitation programme in honour of Tlangnuam Futsal Club for winning the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Futsal Championship 2025–26 was held today at Tlangnuam Veng Community Hall. Chief Minister Mr. Lalduhoma attended the event as the Chief Guest. Mr. Lalchhuanthanga, MLA of the constituency, attended as Guest of Honour, while Dr. Lalmalsawma Nghaka, Corporator of the ward, was the Special Guest.

Congratulating Tlangnuam Futsal Club on their historic achievement, the Chief Minister urged the players not to be content with winning a single national title. He said that beyond the AIFF Championship lie higher levels of competition, including the AFC Futsal Asian Cup and ultimately the FIFA Futsal World Cup. He encouraged the players to set their sights on these larger stages.

The Chief Minister said that merely producing players for the Indian national team should not be the ultimate goal. Instead, Mizoram should aspire to produce players who can become the backbone of the Indian national team and help the country qualify for, and excel at, the FIFA Futsal World Cup. He urged the Mizoram Football Association (MFA) and the players alike to pursue this vision with determination.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented a cash incentive to Tlangnuam Futsal Club in recognition of their achievement.

He also commended the Mizoram Football Association for its efforts in promoting futsal in the State. Stating that Mizoram's youth possess exceptional sporting talent across various disciplines, he said the Government remains committed to supporting sports development. He noted that one of the earliest initiatives under the Bana Kaih Scheme was in the field of sports. In football particularly, the Government has been investing in new infrastructure as well as upgrading existing facilities, with a clear long-term vision for the development of the game.

Pu Lalchhuanthanga, MLA of the constituency, also addressed the gathering.

Mr. Lalrinzama, Manager of Tlangnuam Futsal Club, presented a report on the Club. Established in 2020, the Club is managed by a dedicated Managing Board with the primary objective of nurturing young footballers and bringing laurels to Mizoram through sporting excellence. He acknowledged the continued support extended by volunteers and residents of Tlangnuam.

He explained that only the champions of the State league qualify for the AIFF Futsal Championship. Having won the Mizoram Football Association Futsal Championship, Tlangnuam Futsal Club earned the right to represent Mizoram at the national tournament held in Gujarat.

The Club remained unbeaten throughout the championship, scoring an impressive 69 goals while conceding only 12. Apart from the two goalkeepers, every player in the squad found the back of the net during the tournament.

The felicitation programme was compered by Caroline Lalrosangi. Pu K. Lalengliana delivered the invocation, while Pu R. Lalrinawma, Chairman of the Organising Committee, delivered the welcome address. During the programme, Pu Abraham Lalthakima, National Powerlifting Gold Medallist, Tlangnuam, was also honoured with a special recognition.
