Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla inaugurated the newly constructed BUG (Built Up Girder) bridge named 'Malsawmna Lei', connecting Aibawk and Darlung villages over the river Tlawng at Darlungkai.
Speaking on the occasion, Pu Lal Thanhawla said that people should regard any infrastructural facilities constructed by the Government as their own and hence should have the feeling of ownership of such assets and facilities. Expressing his happiness on completion of the long awaited bridge, he said that the bridge would be a blessing for the residents of Aibawk and Darlung villages and that it would enhance the development of the villages in a major way.
The Guest of Honour, Pu Vanlalrobiaka, Chairman ZIDCO and who also happens to be the MLA of the constituency said that the new constructed bridge would benefit the residents of the villages in his constituency and hence christened it 'Malsawma Lei' or 'Blessed Bridge'.
The entire cost of construction of the bridge is Rs. 202 lakhs; it is 67 metres long and 3.3 metres wide.
