327/2026-2027
Aizawl, 3rd September 2026: Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma inaugurated the "Training-cum-Workshop on the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988," organized by the Vigilance Department for the Mizoram Lokayukta, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), and the Mizoram Police at the I&PR Conference Hall today.
In his address, the Chief Minister stated that out of a desire to establish a transparent and clean government, the administration has moved swiftly to strengthen the Lokayukta; sanctions have been accorded for the purchase of new vehicles for the ACB, vehicle entitlements have been granted to Lokayukta Inquiry Officers, and the Special Incentive Allowance previously provided to ACB personnel—which had been discontinued due to financial constraints during the COVID-19 pandemic—has been restored, as well as extended to Lokayukta Inquiry Officers. He added that necessary funds have also been provided to support their Anti-Corruption campaigns.
The Chief Minister noted that although significant infrastructural and material support has been provided, the skill, wisdom, and dedication of the personnel remain paramount, which is also the reason why Vigilance Department organized this training and workshop today.
Addressing the officers directly, the Chief Minister emphasized that the law vests Inquiry Officers with extensive authority, which must be utilized strictly within legal bounds to uncover graft and malpractice. He urged them to carry out every investigation without fear or favor. Emphasizing the necessity of inter-departmental synergy, he added that he has directed all government departments to extend their full cooperation.
Acknowledging their good work, the Chief Minister also observed that there are still several pending inquiries and cases, urging the officials to continue putting forth their best efforts. He further conveyed his appreciation to the Vigilance Department for organizing the program.
Pu Khilli Ram Meena, Chief Secretary and Chief Vigilance Officer, delivered the keynote address outlining the purpose of the workshop. He noted that sharpening the skills of anti-corruption personnel will enhance their capabilities, enable swifter action, and foster greater motivation and teamwork.
Brief speeches were also delivered by Pu Joel Joseph Denga, Member (Judicial), Mizoram Lokayukta, and Pu Sharad Agarwal, Director General of Police, Mizoram.
The inaugural function was chaired by Dr. YLN Reddy, Secretary, Vigilance Department, who also delivered the welcome address. Following the inaugural session, a technical session was held, with training sessions conducted by Pu Joel Joseph Denga, Member, Lokayukta; Pu TL Guite, Secretary, Law & Judicial; and Dr. HTC Lalrinchhana.
