Aizawl 6th December 2022: Chief Secretary of Mizoram, Pi Renu Sharma chaired Round 13 meeting of the State Level Co Ordination Committee (SLCC) on regulation of NBFC and UIBs in the state of Mizoram . Along with the Chief Secretary ,the meeting was also attended by Pu Devesh Chandra Srivastava DGP, Mizoram Police , and other senior officials from Finance, Police, Co-operative Societies and representatives of RBI and SEBI.

Chief Secretary in her opening remarks talked about the importance of SLCC forum. She said that it serves an important purpose for checking the activities of NBFC’s and unincorporated bodies in the State of Mizoram. She talked about digital platforms and online commerce and also about how these platforms were being exploited to defraud people. She commended the RBI guidelines on digital lending. She also advised that rules under MPID act and BUDS Act 2019 may be notified at the earliest.

DGP Pu Devesh Chandra Srivastava, talked about how BUDS Act is more effective and how social media is being utilized by police departments for spreading important awareness. The DGP also reported that the Economic Offences Wing police station will now look after economic offences in Mizoram.

GM & O-i-C RBI Aizawl Pu Phungreikhai Shimrah, briefed the attendees about the Guidelines on Digital Lending by Reserve Bank of India which was released on September 02, 2022. He also elaborated on RBI payments vision 2025 where system of positive confirmation is mooted for other modes of payment like RTGS and NEFT.

In this review meeting, various important agendas were discussed and confirmation of the minutes of Round 12 meeting held on June 6,2022 and action points were also discussed. In line with the action points taken, the police department reported that the Crime and Economic Offences Police station under the administrative control of SP,CID( crime),Mizoram was inaugurated on 4th November 2022. Important issues such as sharing of market intelligence on activities of unincorporated bodies, online website fraud were also discussed . Pu Ashish Rai, Manager RBI also apprised the attendees about cases of fraud from other states.

The meeting concluded with a remarks from Pu Haokholal,AGM ,Aizawl who stressed on the importance of having such important meeting on regular intervals
