Lawngtlai, 20th March 2025 : Shri. Khilli Ram Meena,IAS, Chief Secretary of Mizoram, held a meeting with Departmental Head of Lawngtlai District at DC Conference Hall, here in the district capital today. The meeting was chaired by Shri. Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai.
At the outset, Shri Khilli Ram Meena thanked and welcomed all the departmental heads and mentioned that examining the plight of the district was his main purpose of the visit. He highlighted that road transportation was a significant issue and urged the concerned agencies to take urgent and necessary steps. He specifically spoke about the importance of Lawngtlai to Zorinpui Highway ( KMMTTP Road) and asked the MPWD to undertake maintenance works immediately and at the same time to work with the public in a positive manner. The Chief Secretary also talked about education and said that Lawngtlai district has to work endlessly to become on par with other district of the state. As Mizoram is about to achieve 100 percent literacy rate, the Chief Secretary indicated that the literacy rate of Lawngtlai is still under performing and asked the education department to take all the necessary steps in bringing up the literacy rate of the district.
The Chief Secretary also indicated that Patanjali Foods Limited will soon be establishing an Oil Palm Extraction Centre at Lawngtlai and that there is an urgent need to increase plantation areas so as to ensure a higher harvest. He also expressed the need to workout a better market and requested the district administration to take appropriate measures in setting up the market. Stressing on the importance of exploiting the full potential of the youth, Chief Secretary raised the need to promote skill and entrepreneurship capacity amongst the youth at large. He also spoke of the need for arranging market to sale their various products and requested the district administration in establishing a reliable market for their produce. He asked the Law enforcement personnel to fully familiarize themelves with the three new criminal laws and to undertake training as needed. Speaking about the Free Movement Regime ( FMR) the Chief Secretary urged a cordial and cooperative works among BSF, Assam Rifles and the district administration. He openly expressed that his Office is always open for the district for any kind of help and invited them to approach him personally whenever the need arises.
Through a power point presentation, Shri.Cheemala Siva Gopal Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, highlights a brief status of Lawngtlai district, its administrative set up, works undertaken by various deparments, prospects and its various challenges. Shri.Lokeshwaran R. IPS, Superintendent of Police, alsopresented the works under Police Department, Law and order situation in the district and challenges they face in enforcing their duties.
Today's meeting was attended by all the Heads of department and Shri. Margaret J. Vanlalremmawii, SDO(S) proposed a vote of thanks and concluded the meeting.
