Chief Secretary of Mizoram Shri Lalmalsawma IAS, on 5th May 2017 visited the project site of
Thenzawl Golf Resort in the outskirts of Thenzawl town in Serchhip District. The Golf Resort is being developed by the Department of Tourism under the project entitled ‘Integrated Development of New Eco-Tourism Destination under Swadesh Darshan.’  

The ongoing project was sanctioned by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India under the new scheme called Swadesh Darshan – North East Circuit, which was designed with the aim of developing theme-based tourism circuits in the country. At an estimated cost of Rs. 9490.96 lakhs, and various tourist sites being developed in Thenzawl, South Zote and Reiek, the Swadesh Darshan scheme is the biggest tourism project undertaken in Mizoram thus far. 

The Thenzawl Golf Resort Project will have an international standard 18 holes Golf Course designed by Canadian based Golf Course Architect Firm Graham Cooke & Associates and 30 Eco Log Huts. Skilled technicians from overseas are currently installing the log structures and log huts using high grade pine wood imported from Russia. The Golf Resort will also come with a fully equipped 10,000 sq.ft clubhouse, a modern state of the art convention centre, gazebos and a food court. The project is one of the fastest Swadesh Darshan implementations in the North East Circuit and is expected to be inaugurated by March 2018. 

Officials from the Tourism Department, Mizoram and representatives from the project consultants - Fore Consultants Private Limited, New Delhi accompanied the Chief Secretary at the project site, where they discussed the ongoing work, pace of implementation and their action plan for the remainder of the project. The Chief Secretary was accompanied by Shri Lalhmingthanga, IAS, Secretary, Rural Development Department, Shri V. Lalremthanga, IAS, Secretary, Tourism Department, Smt Sangchhin Chinzah, MCS, Deputy Commissioner Serchhip District and other Government officials.
