Aizawl, the 7th February 2024: The Central Integrated Pest Management Centre, Aizawl organised a 2-day HRD Orientation Training Programme (OTP) on IPM  at Hlimen Village in Aizawl District.

In the 2 days OTP Program detailed introduction was given on Importance of IPM" in Plant Protection. The farmers were briefed about components of IPM. Later seed treatment with fungicide to manage seed born diseases. They were taught about the role of predators, parasitoids and pathogens (Beauveria, Metarhizium, Verticilium, Nuclear polyhedrosis virus (NPV) and Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt)) etc., in management of pests and diseases. They were explained about installation of bird perches, trap crops, role of traps viz light traps, pheromone traps, yellow sticky traps, there use & method of installation also demonstrated. Farmers were explained regarding safe use of Pesticides. Further, resource persons explained about Identification of beneficial insects. Pest and diseases diagnosis and management. In addition, Harmful Effects of chemical pesticides on Humans & food web were discussed. Demonstration on use of NPSS app for farmers was conducted.
