Foundation Stone laying ceremony of Vavu Dil Project, a project to built Educational institution ranging from Nursery to College by Champhai Town Multipurpose Co-operative Societies Limited (CTM-PACS) took place yesterday at Champhai. Co-operation Minister Pu C.Lalrinsanga laid the foundation Stone, Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, Champhai North MLA & Vice Chairman, Health & Family Welfare Board also graced the occasion among other.

At the ceremony, Pu C.Lalrinsanga while explaining the inclusiveness of Co-operative movement, said that each member contributes as per convenience, strong co-operative movement can solve poverty and other obstacles. He appreciated the social life at Champhai in fostering the Mizo’s tradition and culture. Commenting on the achievements of CTM-PACS, he praised the service and respect it earned at national level, it brought laurels and fame to the State, he added. Also he urged the Society to focus on character building and moral education a part from normal syllabus. The Minister urged the Society members to revive strong and vivid Co-operative Movement starting from the very place of Champhai and spread to the whole State.

Dr. ZR Thiamsanga, Champhai North MLA & Vice Chairman Health & Family Welfare Board congratulated the Society for their achievements, encouraged them to continue their service and good deeds. He maintained that the State Government is very willing to help the dedicated and diligent people. The programme was presided over by Pu HS Vanlalfakzuala, Chairman, CTM-PACS. Secretary Pu Zirsangliana gave detail report on the Society and the Vavu Dil Project.

Vavu Dil Project covers approximately 101.5 Bighas land inside Ruantlang V/C area. The proposed institution is to impart moral education, Practical works covering vast domain of skills, a part from formal education. Champhai Town Multipurpose Cooperative Societies Limited (CPACS) was established in the year 1994. In 2012, it was selected for Primary Agricultural Credit Cooperative Societies (PACs), the annual financial transaction is around rupess 10 Crores. The Society is operating Variety Store, Higher Secondary School, Medical Store-Janaushadi. It has 150 members from different walk of life. The Co-operative Society lended loan to 387 people and collect pigmy deposit amounting Rs 2,40,000/ day. CTM-PACS was bestowed IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative Limited) “Cooperator” award in 2017 and NCDC Regional Award for Cooperative Merit, 2018, the first to receive from Mizoram.

Minister Pu C.Lalrinsanga also visited  CTM-PACS School, Office, Variety Shop,    Cold Storage, New Champhai and Tlangsam Winery, all within Champhai Town area.
