Aizawl, the 17th May 2021 : The Committee on Utilization of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for COVID-19 which met today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Pu Lalnunmawia Chuaungo at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, MINECO discussed financial doles to help distressed families affected by the almost one month long lockdown across the state. The Committee accorded sanction of Rs. 91.50 lakhs to be handed over to families through the concerned DCs.

Aizawl DC has compiled a list of 3074 such families and for this purpose Aizawl DC is to be handed Rs. 61.50 lakhs from this sum, the meeting decided. An amount of Rs. 5 lakhs each has been earmarked for Lunglei and Kolasib Districts, while the other 8 Districts will be given Rs. 2.50 lakhs each. The Committee will continue to assist such families based on inputs and recommendations from DCs which is being disbursed through Local Level/Village Level Task Forces (LLTFs/VLTFs). Since the start of the pandemic, the Committee helped thousands of such families across the state.

LLTFs/VLTFs, which are the grass root COVID warriors at the locality level have rendered invaluable contribution by helping families hit hard by the Lockdown during the first wave last year and even during the current second wave they continue to serve and help the hardest hit families.

Till yesterday i.e. 16th May 2021 an amount of Rs. 22,98,84,954 has been deposited by various benefactors. From this an amount of Rs. 21,33,60,970 has been disbursed and utilized

The Committee has Addl.Chief Secretary Pu JC Ramthanga as Co-Chairman, Finance Commisioner Pu Vanlalchhuanga as Member Secretary, NGO Co-ordination Committee representative Pu Vanlalruata, President of Central YMA and Rev Lalrinsanga, Secretary of the Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), a conglomerate of church bodies of Mizoram as Members.
