Lunglei, 25th March, 2021: Lunglei Town Sanitation Task Force under Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation Department organized a ‘Consultation Workshop on Waste Segregation Held’ for various stakeholders at Lunglei on Monday this week.

Organized with an aim of readying the town for the proposed waste segregation at source timeline of 1st April 2021, the workshop was attended by all the important stakeholders including Lunglei Town Sanitation Task Force members, VC, YMA, MUP, MHIP and Clean Lunglei members. 

Speaking at the inauguration of the workshop, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman Lunglei Town Sanitation Task Force Pu Kulothungan A took the opportunity to thank and congratulate the people of Lunglei for winning Overall Cleanest Town’ and ‘1st Rank for District Headquarter’ in the recently concluded Cleanliness Competition in Urban Mizoram - 2020’ While thanking the Line Departments & NGOs, VCs and the general public for their contribution towards a cleaner Lunglei town, he reminded them that this is only the initial first step, and that sustained and more aggressive steps need to be taken for a cleaner and greener Lunglei town.

At the workshop it was stressed that there will be an initial gestation period for citizens to get used to segregating their waste at source, and make it a part of their daily habit. Stakeholders were thus advised that they would need to be firm and patient while the project is in its initial stage.
