Aizawl, 11th September 2026: The Coordination Committee on Traffic Management convened today under the chairmanship of Mizoram Chief Secretary Pu Khilli Ram Meena at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, MINECO. The meeting reviewed the registration status and usage of Two-Wheeler and Four-Wheeler Taxis following the official launch of the Mizotaxi app, while deliberating on a proposal to extend the registration deadline.
Presenting the current statistics during the meeting, Transport Department Secretary Pu C.Lalruaia, MPS, stated that a total of 1,570 vehicles have registered on the Mizotaxi App as of September 11. This total comprises 397 Four-Wheeler Taxis, 1,149 Two-Wheeler Taxis, and 24 Autorickshaws. Furthermore, the total number of ride requests recorded through the app stands at 28,553, with 279 taxi drivers active online today.
Discussions highlighted that the Mizotaxi app serves as an essential tool to ensure the implementation of official taxi rates fixed by the State Transport Authority, enhance passenger safety, and help alleviate severe traffic congestion and parking shortages within Aizawl city. Noting that previous registration extensions yielded a strong response and that the public is increasingly familiarizing themselves with the app, the committee deliberated on a proposal to open a further three-month registration window for interested operators.
The Mizotaxi App is a collaborative initiative developed jointly by the Government of Mizoram and Digiride Technology Pvt. Ltd., in association with NIT Mizoram.
