Senior diplomat Shri Vinay Kumar, a 1992 batch Indian Foreign Service paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram Shri Kummanam Rajasekharan at Raj Bhavan this evening. The Ambassador of India to Afghanistan, who had chosen to adopt Mizoram said it was the initiative of the Prime Minister and also Act East Policy to expose the IFS officers to understand the grass root functioning of different states particularly in the field of foreign collaboration. He said that the new scheme envisages to promote trade, commerce, tourism, education, organise cultural events, etc. He also said that he was looking forward to working with the state officials who are well acquainted with the region and that connection of North East India with South East Asia remains vital because of the diplomatic interest and the cultural similarities.
They also discussed on the scope of academic exchanges, faculty interaction, promotion of handloom and handicrafts, skills development, food processing and research and development in bamboo.
