389/2026-2027

Aizawl dated 25th September 2026: The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Cell, Government of Mizoram, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mizoram State Council, successfully organised the ‘CSR Conclave Mizoram 2026’ today at the Aijal Club. Centered around the definitive theme, ‘Collaborate-Contribute-Create Impact’, the event brought together key stakeholders to align corporate resources with regional development goals.

The inaugural session of the conclave was graced by Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister of State for Labour, Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department, as the Chief Guest. The event witnessed large-scale participation from corporate representatives across India, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), various departments under the Government of Mizoram, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar highlighted Mizoram's significantly improved connectivity, noting that major Indian cities are now just a short flight away from the state. In line with the conclave's theme, he invited major corporate houses to partner in Mizoram’s development journey through proactive CSR initiatives. He further urged them to explore the state's diverse natural resources and deploy their expertise and resources to foster inclusive regional growth.

The Minister added that beyond its natural wealth, Mizoram possesses immense potential due to its talented youth in sports, a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, and an exceptionally high literacy rate, indicating a bright future for the state. To accelerate this developmental trajectory, he emphasised that stakeholders must embody the spirit of the theme by fostering a collaborative ecosystem comprising large private companies, various state government departments, and the public.

He further noted that well-planned CSR strategies could unlock expansive opportunities for students, athletes, farmers, and entrepreneurs across various towns and villages in Mizoram. This partnership, he remarked, will serve as a vital stepping stone toward achieving 'Viksit Bharat'—India's vision of becoming a completely developed nation by 2047.

Addressing the current disparity, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar stated that compared to other Indian states, Mizoram remains among the lowest recipients of CSR funding. He explicitly called upon major companies to direct their CSR portfolios toward Mizoram to become true partners in the socio-economic advancement of its citizens.

Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga, Chairman of the CSR Cell, elaborated on the institutional framework, explaining that the CSR Cell was established under the leadership of the Chief Minister to ensure the strategic and effective utilization of corporate funds for the state's development. He expressed satisfaction that the joint efforts of the CSR Cell and CII leadership culminated in the 'CSR Conclave Mizoram 2026', providing an excellent interactive platform for corporate delegates, government bodies, and NGOs to collaborate effectively.

Pu TBC Lalvenchhunga added that Mizoram is fully prepared to align its growth pace with the rest of India. He affirmed that the state aims to leverage CSR constructively to create a lasting impact and urged major corporations to recognize Mizoram as a highly viable and secure destination for substantial investments.

Earlier in the inaugural session, Dr. Lalrintluanga Jahau, Chairman of CII Mizoram, delivered the welcome address to the gathered dignitaries and participants. Pu David Lalthantluanga, IAS, Secretary of the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, presented the introductory overview of the CSR Conclave 2026, while Pu Henry Malsawmtlanga, Additional Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, concluded the session with a vote of thanks.

The technical segments of the CSR Conclave Mizoram 2026 featured specialized training and panel discussions on various facets of CSR, specifically tailored for government officials and NGO representatives. The event also hosted dedicated 'Experience Sharing' sessions presented by entities that have successfully implemented and benefited from impactful CSR projects in the past.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a social development obligation imposed on eligible companies under the Companies Act, 2013, scaled according to their business net profit.
