LUNGLEI; the 12th, January, 2024: National Youth Day-2024 celebration was held at Art & Culture Auditorium here in Venglai Lunglei, and the function was organized  by  Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with YMA Sub Hqrs,Lunglei. To commemorate this auspicious day; a Declamation contest on My Bharat-Viksit Bharat@2047 was conducted for the youths of age between 15 to 29. National Youth Day- 2024 celebration function was presided over by Shri CMS Dawngliana Vice President, YMA Sub Hqrs,Lunglei and Shri Lalzuithanga Khiangte, Chairman,Lunglei Municipal Council graced the function as Chief Guest.

Speaking on the occasion Shri Lalzuithanga Khiangte spoke at length the huge contribution made by Swami Vivekananda towards society in regard to reformation and upliftment of downtroddens;and exhorted the youths to emulate and follow the footsteps of the pious and sagacious Swami Vivekananda in every possible way. He also passionately reasoned the youths that it was a high time  that they buckle up their belts and tighten up their shoe laces to embark upon the future- long road ahead with gusto, and saying  a ‘Big No’ to all the  social vices on their way, for the good of society and for themselves.

Shri Lalrinchhana, NYK Lunglei informed the gathering audiences; the purpose of observance of National Youth Day/ National Youth Week and added that 12th January is the birth day of Swami Vivekananda and Government of India decided to observe this day as National Youth Day since 1984, and henceforth 13^th -19^th January was observed as the National Youth Week; and during this week various events and functions were held to inform and motivate the youths across India by imparting the teaching of  Swami Vivekananda.

Shri Lalthabuanga, officer  i/c Traffic delivered lectures on  “Road safety”  on this occasion.
