Director General of Police (DGP) Mizoram Pu SBK Singh, IPS visited Lawngtlai yesterday.

The DGP (M) was accompanied by his wife, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) Pu Rajneesh Gupta, IPS and Senior Staff Officer to DGP Pu Zonun Sanga, MPS and the party was received at Circuit House, Lawngtlai by Deputy Commissioner Pi Shashanka Ala, IAS, Superintendent of Police Pu Amit Goel, IPS and other officials.

The DGP then visited and inspected the headquarters building of the Lawngtlai District Executive Force (DEF) and inaugurated the newly installed Lawngtlai SP Conference Hall. He held a meeting with police personnel under Lawngtlai DEF where he addressed problems and requirements raised by the police personnel.

The DGP said there is a big shortage of manpower in Mizoram Police as only 9,000 posts out of 12,000 sanctioned posts are filled. To solve this problem, the Chief Minister assured to fill 700 posts this year, he said. Rs 367 crores fund to meet lack of accomodations and vehicles is being expected from the Ministry of Home Affairs, he added.
