Aizawl the 3rd June, 2024: As the counting of votes for the General Election to the Lok Sabha, 2024 is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, 4th June, 2024, a press conference regarding the counting plans and preparations was organized today at 12 noon by Aizawl Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Nazuk Kumar, IAS at the DC Conference Hall.
The following arrangements have been made for the day of counting votes:
1. Sixteen (16) Counting Observers have been deployed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the Mizoram Parliamentary Constituency. Details are attached as a pdf file below.
2. Training of counting officials took place in two phases: 1st phase on the 14th and 15th of May, 2024 and the 2nd phase on the 29th and 30th of May, 2024.
3. Second randomization of counting officials was conducted on 2nd June, 2024, at 5:30 pm in the presence of Counting Observers. Third randomization of counting officials will be done on the morning of counting day at 5:00 am in the presence of Counting Observers.
4. There will be 10 counting centres spread across 3 locations viz. DC Office Building, Assembly Secretariat Basement and Govt. Aizawl College. Interview booth will be set up at DC Office. Details are attached as a pdf file below.
5. Media Centre has been established in all Counting Centres to coordinate with counting officials and journalists for effective dissemination of information to the public.
6. Counting AROs have been appointed to each counting hall to assist the observers and supervise the counting process. Fire tender and medical duty team will be deployed at each counting centre.
7. Counting officials have been instructed to reach their respective counting centres by 6:30 am on counting day. They will be seated at their respective tables by 7:30 am and counting of EVMs will start at 8:00 am.
8. On the day of counting, 3 tier security systems will be put in place. The first cordon will be at 100m from the counting centre, which will be declared as a Pedestrian Zone. The second cordon will be at the entry of the counting centre, which will be mannes by the State Armed Police Force. The third cordon will be at the entry of the respective counting halls, which will be manned by the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
9. A separate counting hall has been designated at the DC Office for counting of postal ballots and ETPBMS. So far, 2656 votes have been received as ETPBMS and 2107 as postal ballots till date.
10. AROs in the remaining 10 districts will submit results in respect of their Assembly Segments and final result will be announced by the Returning Officer from DC Office Aizawl.
Aizawl DEO Nazuk Kumar requested media personnel to be present and alert at the counting centres on counting day so that the election results can reach the public as soon as possible.
