Champhai, the 19th March, 2024: The meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee (D-MC) for Central Sector Scheme (CSS) 'Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOS)' was held today at DC's Conference Hall, Champhai at 2:00 PM to review the progress and deliberate on the strategy for implementation of the scheme for Champhai district under the Chairmanship of Pu James Lalrinchhana, Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, D-MC.

In his opening remarks, the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, D-MC Pu James Lalrinchhana welcomed all the members and invited for proactive deliberations on the strategy for successful implementation of the scheme in Champhai district and narrated that CSS on Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs is important in order to provide adequate handholding and professional support to develop economically sustainable FPOs facilitating adequate market and credit linkages. The scheme shall create a platform to facilitate the development of vibrant and sustainable income oriented farming and for overall socio-economic development and well-being of agrarian communities of the district through collective action of the farmers, he added.

The Chairman of the D-MC Pu James Lalrinchhana advised them to focus on viable business plan, capacity building, market linkage, etc. for the FPOs. He also advised the (CBBOS) to work in coordination with line departments, such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries etc. and focus on overall socio-economic development and wellbeing of agrarian communities in the district. He stressed on convergence with other developmental projects, the notion of convergence of the projects involves inter alia integration of schemes, funds and various components, closely and cohesively work together, co-ordinate for successful implementation of the schemes.

Pi H. Lalhmachhuani, DDM Champhai delivered a powerpoint presentation on the Operation guidelines of CSS for Formation and promotion of 10,000 FPOs to the forum, explained Aims and Objectives of the Scheme; Farmer Producers Organisation (FPO); Services and activities to be undertaken by FPOs.

Pu SC Ramnunmawia, District Co-ordinator, NEIDA made detail presentation on baseline survey and reports, mobilized 220 apple farmers, registered under the Mizoram Cooperative Societies Act, collected Rs 2.200 lakh of share capital and are proposed for availing equity fund which is matching share from their share collection. He submitted business plan, conduct of training, awareness and capacity building of farmers at selected 4 villages and fund received and utilization as on date. Pu Lalremruata, CEO, Chhaktiang FPC gave powerpoint presentation on implementation of scheme under Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd. which was followed by Line Department discussion.

The meeting was attended by Addl. DC, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Khawzawl, DCO, DHO, DFDO, ADAO, VO, DIPRO, LDM, other officials, representative from NEIDA and Clover Organic Pvt. Ltd., among others.
