Lawngtlai, the 13th November, 2020: A meeting of District Level Standing Committee, Lawngtlai District in connection with the general election to the Member of District Council (MDC) under the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), 2020 was held today at the DC's Conference Hall.

The meeting, chaired by the District Election Officer & Returning Officer Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika, was attended by Assistant RO for 1-13 constituencies Pu K. Vanlalthiana, Asst RO for 14-25 constituencies Pi Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi, Lawngtlai Addl SP Pu C. Lalruatkima, Nodal Officer (MCC/Postal Ballot) Pu V. Lalruatliana, Election Officer Pu Lalneihthanga Colney and representatives of political parties, NGOs and churches. Schedule of election, analysis of final electoral roll, election expenditure, nomination of candidates, polling stations, model code of conduct and election SOP in relation to prevention and containment of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic were discussed in the meeting.

The State Election Commission (SEC) notified the schedule of election for general election to the MDC under LADC, 2020 on 9th November, 2020 with the date of poll as 4th December,  2020 (7:00 AM to 4:00 PM). The model code of conduct was thereby enforced within LADC area till completion of general election by 14.12.2020.

There are 25 MDC constituencies under LADC with 111 polling stations. As per the final electoral roll, there are a total of 51456 electors (25352 male and 26104 female electors).
