266/2024-2025

Dated Serchhip the 4th October, 2024 : The District Level Standing Committee on the Rationalization of Polling Stations convened this afternoon, under the Chairmanship of DC Paul L.Khuma, at the Serchhip DC Pisapui Meeting Hall to discuss proposed changes to five Polling Stations within the district.

Key proposals included the relocation of the polling station for 26/13-Serchhip III from the dilapidated Chhim Veng Polling Station building to the Modern Middle School CRC, Chhim Veng. This recommendation arises from concerns about the current polling station's poor condition and its secluded location.

For the 27/31 Vanchengte polling station, currently situated in a Government Primary School, a shift to the Government Middle School has been proposed to improve accessibility for voters.

The committee also discussed the 28/10-East Lungdar-I Polling Station, proposing a change from the BDO Conference Hall to the Buhzem Cluster Level Federation SHG Building.

Further, the 28/13-Chekawn Polling Station, located in a Government Primary School, is suggested to be moved to the Government Middle School, as the current site is deemed unsuitable for voters with disabilities and lacks vehicle accessibility.

Lastly, the 28/15-Bungtlang II Polling Station is recommended for relocation from the Government Primary School-I to the Government High School, addressing concerns regarding convenience for voters with disabilities and its distance from the main road.

The Committee reviewed the various proposals, which were inspected by the Election Registration Officer (ERO) and Assistant Election Registration Officer (AERO) prior to the meeting. After thorough discussion, the proposals were approved and will be forwarded to the CEO Aizawl for final approval.  This rationalization aims to enhance voter accessibility and ensure a more efficient electoral process in the district.
