Lawngtlai, the 27th April, 2021: District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Lawngtlai District organised Jal Shakti Abhiyaan - Catch the Rain (Rainwater Harvesting) campaign, 2021 at BDO BNRGSK Hall, Lawngtlai today.

Pi Marilyn Rualzakhumthangi, Project Director, DRDA Lawngtlai chaired the function while Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika, Deputy Commissioner Lawngtlai graced it as a Chief Guest.

Representatives from village councils of Lawngtlai town were invited to attend the campaign. Er T. Mangliandinga, SDO, PHED Lawngtlai Division gave a powerpoint presentation on rainwater harvesting and conservation. Pu R. Malsawmdawngliana Khawlhring, Programme Assistant, DRDA Lawngtlai presented a paper on scarcity of water and need to recharge groundwater and water bodies. A paper on Jal Shakti Abhiyaan - Catch the Rain prepared by Pu Samson Thanruma, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Chhimtuipui Wildlife Division, Lawngtlai was also distributed.
