Lunglei the 4th January, 2023 - Lunglei DC Shri Kulothungan A today inaugurated Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) at the Civil Hospital Lunglei premises today in the presence of Civil Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr SR Ngurchamliana, Lunglei Additional DC Shri Donny Lalruatsanga, Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) Warehouse Manager Shri K Simon and other officials.

The plant has been set up through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding of Rs. 17.61 lakhs from Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), Guwahati. CWC, Guwahati had earlier given CSR donation of Rs 6.50 lakhs to Lunglei District, which was used to transform 5 selected Anganwadis to BaLA (Building as Learning Aid) Anganwadi Centres in 2021.

The ETP at Civil Hospital Lunglei is equipped to treat 20,000 litres of waste daily. With this, Civil Hospital Lunglei becomes the first Government Hospital in the State to have an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP).

Speaking at the inaugural function, Lunglei DC Pu Kulothungan A thanked Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) for their continued support to Lunglei District, and said that the newly inaugurated Effluent Treatment Plant is a much needed intervention for Civil Hospital Lunglei and the District as a whole. He added that more plans are currently underway to augment the health infrastructure of Lunglei District, such as procurement of a much needed Blood Donation Van for the District. Under the Deputy Commissioner’s leadership, the District has so far received 4 Ambulances and other health equipments from last year.
