As a part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls, 2021, ECI appointed Electoral Roll Observer Dr Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS visited Lawngtlai today. He held a meeting at the DC's Conference Hall which was attended by officials, political parties and NGOs. He also inspected polling stations.

The Electoral Roll Observer congratulated District Election Officer, Lawngtlai Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika and his team for peaceful and successful conduct of the general election to the Lai Autonomous District Council, 2020 held on 4th December and results declared on 8th December. He emphasised on the importance of revisions of electoral roll in realising the slogan of the ECI, "No voter to be left behind." He complimented the officials, political parties, NGOs, media and the general public for their dedication, hard work and cooperation with each other to ensure a healthy electoral roll in the District.

Deputy Commissioner & DEO Lawngtlai Dr Andrew H. Vanlaldika chaired the meeting and welcomed the Observer and other attendees. Election Officer Pu Lalneihthanga Colney highlighted present status of the District and gave a brief report on recently published draft electoral roll, which was followed by discussions and suggestions among the gathering.

As per the draft electoral roll for the ongoing special summary revision, there are 32,403 voters (16,379 males and 16,024 females) in 36-Tuichawng (ST) Assembly Constituency (A/C), 27,038 voters (13,612 males and 13,426 females) in 37-Lawngtlai West (ST) A/C and 24,484 voters (11,844 males and 12,640 females) in 38-Lawngtlai East (ST) A/C. In total, there are 83,925 voters (41,835 males and 42,090 females) in Lawngtlai District.

Claims and objections regarding the draft roll can be filed upto 15th December, 2020. Final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on 20th January, 2020.
