Aizawl 9th September, 2021 : With the initiative of DFDO Mamit Fisheries Dept. Govt. of Mizoram Fingerlings numbering about 1,10,000 were distributed to the fish farmers of Mamit District, a project under SEDP.

The fingerlings were given to farmers from Mamit, Phaizau, Darlak and Kawrtethawveng today at a 70% subsidised rate of Rs 1.20 per fish fingerling.

The distribution includes 6 types of fish namely Catla, Rohu, Mrigal, Grass Carp, Silver Carp and Common Carp. Today's distribution was just a beginner for the District and is set to cover all fish farmers from 40 villages of the district with an estimated total fingerlings to the tune of 7 lakhs which will be distributed in the coming days of this year.
