An inaugural function of Fire Prevention Week, 2020 cum a committee of District Level Committee on Fire Prevention is organised at DC Meeting Room at Serchhip today.

In his inaugural Speech of the week, Dr. Lalzirmawia Chhangte, IAS, DC, who is also a chairman of District Level Committee on Fire Prevention stated that, since a larger group of our people are jhum cultivator, we have a higher level of chances of accidental burning of forest in our state. Every citizens must be aware of it, must be educated it and try every possible steps to avoid this man made disaster in our district.

This years theme for the fire prevention week is “Kangmei chhuak tur veng la, I ram chhan rawh” (Save your land by preventing fire). The member secretary of District Level Fire Prevention Committee Pi Margaret Lalramchhani, DFO, Thenzawl, give a report on the activities of the committee and nodal department that has been taken in the previous year and also highlighted the recent minute of state level committee.

On the basis of the minute of state level committee and the previous year activities undertaken, the district level committee details various steps to be taken during the present fire prevention week.
