Aizawl the 27th February, 2025: In a major boost to India’s floriculture exports potential especially from the Northeastern region, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) in collaboration with Department of Horticulture, Govt. of Mizoram facilitated the flag off of the first consignment of Anthurium Flower from Aizawl, Mizoram to Singapore on 26th February 2025.

Shri Abhishek Dev, IAS, Chairman, APEDA along with Smt. Ramdinliani, IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Horticulture, Govt. of Mizoram flagged off the first consignment of Anthurium Flower from Mizoram to Singapore.

Total of 1008 Anthurium cut flowers packed in 50 corrugated boxes were exported by IVC Agrovet Pvt. Ltd from Aizawl, Mizoram to Singapore by air via Kolkata on 26th February 2025 and imported by Veg Pro  Singapore Pte. Ltd., Singapore. The Anthurium cut flowers were sourced from the Zo Anthurium Growers Cooperative Society, Aizawl, Mizoram.

Senior officials from APEDA, Department of Horticulture, Govt. of Mizoram, Zo Anthurium Growers Cooperative Society, IVC Agrovet Pvt. Ltd and Veg Pro Singapore Pte. Ltd. took part in the flag off ceremony.

 Anthurium is considered one of the most important flowers in Mizoram, driving economic activity through its cultivation and export. The cultivation of Anthurium provides income opportunities for local farmers, particularly women. The "Anthurium Festival" is a major event in Mizoram, organized to promote tourism and showcase the flower's beauty. 

The export of floriculture from India to world was 86.62 USD Million during the FY 2023 – 2024. This first consignment of Anthurium Flower from Mizoram to Singapore is one of the outcome of the International Conclave com Buyer Seller Meet organized by APEDA in collaboration with Govt. of Mizoram on 6th December 2024 at Aizawl, Mizoram. The event was attended by 9 international buyer from Singapore, UAE, Nepal, Jordan, Oman, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ethiopia and 24 domestic exporters

Promoting products of North Eastern Region is APEDA’s top priority and shall continue to focus on North Eastern Region both in terms of capacity building, quality up gradation, infrastructure development. Linking buyers to farmer’s, strengthening entire supply chain is going to yield better results in the coming days.
