Aizawl, the 16th June 2023 : The first ever National Legislators Conference Bharat aimed at bringing together legislators from State Assemblies and Legislative Councils across the country on a common platform to exchange ideas of national and legislative importance began yesterday at Mumbai. Former Speakers of the Lok Sabha and incumbent Speakers of state Legislative Assemblies and Chairpersons of Legislative Councils graced the inaugural function of the three-day Conference that was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai. Mizoram Legislative Speaker Pu Lalrinliana Sailo also attended the inaugural function.

The Conference is being jointly organised by MIT School of Government, Atulya Bharat Nirman Foundation and Bhartiya Chhatra Sansad with support of various state and UT legislatures and will be held at the World Convention Centre, Bandra in Mumbai from 15th June till the 17th June. The conference is being conducted, keeping cross learning and enhancement of legislative effectiveness at its core. More than 2100 legislators have registered for the Conference during which they are expected to have experiential learning and thematic discussions through a mix of thoughtfully curated large-format plenary sessions, parallel brainstorming breakout sessions, a showcase of their state pavilions and best practices, and various other sessions with acclaimed global and national leaders.

Other than Assembly Speaker Pu Lalrinliana Sailo, six MLAs from various political parties of Mizoram – Pu K T Rokhaw, Pu Nihar Kanti Chakma, Er. H. Lalzirliana, Dr. K Pachhunga, Dr. Vanlalthlana and Dr. BD Chakma alongwith officials from the state Assembly and state government including Mizoram Legislative Assembly Secretary & Commissioner Pu Lalhmahruaia Zote and I & PR Department Joint Director Pi P B Lianthangpuii are attending the three day Conference.
