Fisheries Minister Shri K.Lalrinliana reaffirms Closed Period to avail safe breeding for fishes against disturbance

Fisheries Minister Shri K.Lalrinliana reaffirmed 15^th October to 15^th November, 2020 as a period to be a closed season for indigenous and economic variety of fishes to avail safe breeding against destruction or disturbance today, during which no person is allowed to catch or kill fishes as per Mizoram Fisheries Amendment Act, 2016. He cited that scientists at ICAR, in their study in 2019 found out that the indigenous fishes are on the verge of extinction due to destruction of habitat and over-exploitation, due to this, he made a request to everyone to take responsibility for conservation of fish fauna and take actions towards replenishment of indigenous and economic variety of fishes in Mizoram.
