LUNGLEI; the 11th April, 2024: General Observer for Mizoram for the upcoming General Election to the Lok Sabha, 2024 (GELS,2024)  Dr. Nipun Vinayak, IAS  convened a meeting with Nodal Officers, Police Officials and members of  Core Election Team, to keep himself conversant with and  deliberate upon as well, the preparedness of Lunglei district for the forthcoming GELS, 2024.

Smt. Ramdinliani, IAS,  District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Lunglei District presented detailed reports on the preparedness of Lunglei district for the forthcoming GELS, 2024 through Power Point Presentation.

 General Observer Dr. Nipun Vinayak, IAS  addressed the meeting and expressed his satisfaction and happiness over the preparedness of Lunglei District for the upcoming GELS, 2024 and solemnly thanked Election officials for their all-out efforts towards carrying out a peaceful, free and fair  GELS, 2024. While appreciating the good performance of Officials in their respective responsibilities, he also cautions them not to get complacent. He implored them to be in hyper vigilance and high alert mode until Election is concluded. After expressing the high expectation he had of Lunglei district in her ability to pull off Election smoothly, he wished all the officials in their endeavors.

There are a total of 1,00,700 voters in Lunglei district, of these 49,904  are male voters and   50,796 female voters, 337- PwD Voters, 404 Voters 85 years of age and above and  554 -service voters.

There are 6 Assembly segments and 176 Polling stations under Lunglei District; of these 176 Polling stations, 24 are to be manned by women, 6 are Model PSs and Web casting will be done in 109 PSs. There are 79 Polling stations with less than 500 voters.The farthest Polling station is Marpara Polling Station, 121 Km away from the dispatch centre. Polling officials belonging to the most remote 13 Polling stations will be leaving the dispatch centre 2 days ahead of Poll day. Each Assembly segment has 2- Flying Squad teams, 2- Static surveillance Teams, 1-Accounting Team, 2- Video surveillance team, 1- Video Viewing Team and 1- Assistant Expenditure observer.

After the meeting at the DC conference Hall was concluded, General Observer visited Saikuti Hall and inspected EVM Strong Room and Counting Hall and  briefly witnessed EVM commissioning process as well.
