Aizawl, the 27th September 2023: Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati graced the function of the signing of Memorandum Of Understandings by the three parties on Project “Sentinel” – Centre of Educational Excellence, Skilling and Wellness at Assam Rifles Ground of Aizawl, today. Project Sentinel is a conceptualized project by Assam Rifles in collaboration with NIEDO to secure a better future for the youth of Mizoram.

The MOU on the project was signed by each representative of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles, National Integrity & Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) and Axis Bank in the presence of the Governor and Maj Gen VK Nambiar, YSM, SM, IGAR (East), Shri. Abhejit Agarwal, Senior, Vice President & Head, Sustainability and CSR, Axis Bank, Dr Rohit Srivastava, Chairman, NIEDO and Brig Girish Upadhya SM, VSM, DIG 23 Sector Assam Rifles were the signatories of the MOU.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati extended his heartfelt gratitude to Axis Bank and NIEDO for their support, which has helped in realising the Assam Rifles’ people-friendly initiatives in the State. He envisioned that the initiative would provide opportunities for quality education through specialized mentors and nurture the talents of these children as this project was a step toward building a secure Mizoram, a prosperous North East, and a peace-loving nation.

Governor was very happy that this groundbreaking partnership would propel meritorious students to excel in various fields. He also hoped that this initiative would be a precedent for future collaborations, promising to uplift the relatively weaker sections of society.

It is a full-time residential program, wherein shortlisted thirty young girls & boys will be mentored for a period of twelve months for competitive entrance examinations of various Engineering and Medical entrance examinations along with allied streams. Initially, the focus will be on students who have cleared their class 12 with science streams and are preparing for JEE and NEET thereafter more fields will be added to it over a period of time.

During this period of twelve months, complete guidance with respect to training them for the competitive world will be taken care of by Assam Rifles in collaboration with NIEDO and Axis Bank at Assam Rifles Complex, Zokhawsang.

This programme will not only mentor and guide the youth towards a prosperous future but will also provide soft skills, personality development, critical life competencies, leadership capabilities, personal conditioning, wellness programs, vocational training, and end-to-end grooming so as to nurture valuable human resources for the nation. Soon NEIDO representatives will start the five-point selection process and their team will be travelling to the entire Mizoram.

The MOU signing function at AR Ground, Aizawl commenced with opening remarks by Brigadier Girish Upadhya, SM, VSM, DIG, HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles. On the project and how it will be operated,  Maj Gen VK Nambiar, YSM, SM, IGAR (East) delivered a keynote address. Dr. Rohit Srivastava, CEO, NIEDO and Shri Rudrapriyo Ray, Advisor, IMO & Sustainability, Axis Bank were the other speakers. Teachers, students, officials and other invitees witnessed this important milestone for the development of education in the state.
