Aizawl, the 16th December 2023: Participating in the nationwide observation of India’s victory over Pakistan in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, Mizoram also observed the momentous occasion at War Memorial, Treasury Square, Aizawl, this morning. Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati led the floral tributes to our fallen heroes at the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 for the liberation of Bangladesh.

Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma led the rest of the officials, War Veterans,  military officers, and leaders from the Ex-services League in paying homage to our fallen heroes on the battlefield.

Considering the size of the state and its population the contribution of Mizoram is no less than that of bigger states. On this occasion, it may be worth mentioning that the three former Chief Ministers of the State and four MLAs were Military officers or soldiers.

Today, the list of the dignitaries who laid wreaths on the pedestal of the war memorial included Home Minister Pu K.Sapdanga, Chief Secretary Dr Renu Sharma, Hav Lalbiakthanga, Padma Shree recipient and War Veteran, Home Commissioner Pu H.Lalengmawia, Brig Girish Upadhyay, SM, VSM, DIG of 23 Sector Assam rifles, ADGP Pu Ajay Chaudhary, and other top military officials, high ranking Civil Officers and Ex-Services Men.
