Dated: Aizawl the 13th of April, 2024: The 3rd Bru Boisu Wai was celebrated today at Cultural Centre cum Auditorium, Vaivakawn with  Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati as the Chief Guest. The theme for the celebration was “Joto yak romlai ye, phaidi jati no toisa lai na” meaning “Let’s join our hands and rebuild our community”.

The Chief Guest conveyed his warm wishes to the Bru community in celebration of Boisu festival, which marks the beginning of the new year for them. He acknowledged the difficulties that the community had endured in the preceding decades and said that despite all these, they persevered and commended their spirit of resilience and solidarity. 

He encouraged the community to continue with this spirit and build a better future ahead. Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati also encouraged leaders of the Bru community to explore the benefits of various schemes like PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima Yojana and urged them to create awareness among their people.

The Governor reiterated  that the greatest strength of our nation is ‘unity in diversity’ and it is the responsibility of citizens to continuously strive for cultural integration. He highlighted the importance of respecting each other’s culture and traditions and how one must create space to coexist and thrive. He also advocated  the importance of  creating  the environment where every individual feels valued, respected, empowered.

At today’s celebration, the representatives from Chakma community and Bodo community were present as well. There were the performances of  various cultural items such  Tau Tai Khangmo, beautiful dance from Tuipuibari Cultural Team and Bodo Students Association. The Boisu Festival is celebrated by the Bru community annually on the 13th to 15th of April to welcome the new year. It is celebrated by men, women, children with dance, singing and other forms of entertainment.
