Aizawl, the 1st June 2022: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati had an interaction with the top officials from Urban Development & Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) Department and Aizawl Smart City Projects at the Raj Bhavan this morning. As intimated earlier, the officials gave detailed presentations of various infrastructural programs funded through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs(MoHUA), implementations of welfare schemes and also the progress of PMAY-U implementations in the state.

The main initiatives of various infrastructural programs taken by UD&PA were presented by Pu K.Lalthawmmawia, Secretary, UD&PA. Pu Lalrotluanga, CE & Programme Director, Smart City Project highlighted the progress of important projects funded through the North Eastern Region Urban Development Programme(NERDUP) under MoHUA which were taken up by the State Investment Programme Management & Implementation Unit (SIPMIU). While, Pu Zarzoenga, Joint director, UD&PA detailed the achievements and progress of PMAY-U implementations in Mizoram.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati shared his appreciation of the performances of the UD&PA and the Aizawl Smart City Projects for their executions of some of the most essential infrastructural improvement works as per the designs and the objectives of the projects. He urged the concerned officials and the engineers to increase their effort to make up for the lost working seasons due to the pandemic. He also stressed that all of these projects to improve the amenities of the urban population are vital for the state to provide its citizens with a quality of life enjoyed in the more economically advantaged states. He supported how the UD&PA operated to implement PMAY-U in the state to achieve the call by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for the provision of housing facilities to all the citizens. However, he also pointed advocated that the PMAY-G endowment must not only be provided to the urban homeless who have house sites but it should also cover those urban homeless who are not having the house sites by themselves.
